CCHL Recap | Bears Advance and Grads Win Friday Night

Ottawa, ON – Friday night the Smiths Falls Bears advanced on home ice against the Carleton Place Canadians winning 6-2. The Navan Grads and the Pembroke Lumber Kings went to a second overtime where the Grads won 5-4.

The scoring spree began in the 1st period with Lucas Culhane putting Smiths Falls on the board. The 2nd period saw an onslaught from Smiths Falls, with goals from Kyle Dagg, Quinn Booth (2 goals), and Owen Watson (2 goals). Carleton Place managed to respond in the 3rd period with two goals from Will Soloway. In the goaltending department, Carleton Place’s Ian Vandenberg made 14 saves before being replaced by Aidan Feddema, who made 12 saves. On the other end, Smiths Falls’ Dawson Labre stood tall with 19 saves. 

F | Pembroke 4 Navan 5 (2nd OT)

Navan got off to a strong start in the 1st period, with goals from Gabriel Crete, Devon Savignac, and Sebbie Johnson, countered by Kyle Cameron’s goal for Pembroke. Eric Barnard narrowed the gap in the 2nd period for Pembroke, but Kiki Brown extended Navan’s lead. Pembroke fought back fiercely in the 3rd period, with goals from Easton Penna and Eric Barnard, forcing the game into overtime. Despite a scoreless 1st overtime, Sebbie Johnson sealed the deal for Navan in the 2nd overtime. Goaltenders Kevin Jones of Pembroke and Jaeden Nelson of Navan put on stellar performances, making 63 and 38 saves
